OK, now it’s a match. With a budget of 300 million dollars it looks like Microsoft is ready to fight back, putting 10mill on comic heavy weight Jerry Seinfeld. Here’s the first ad from Crispin Porder + Bogusky who won the account a few months back.

That’s right. Nobody is selling nothing yet. It’s only the first round. Microsoft is flexing it’s muscles, making some noise and getting the body language right. Let’s wait for second round and see if Bill & Jerry got some punch.

I don’t like it. It might be the first one, but I just don’t like it.
I’m not sure what they are trying to achieve, how they are trying to position their brand, how they are trying to differentiate themselves from Apple or any of the above.
It just further adds to the distance between Apple and Microsoft, and not in a good way.
$300,000,000… oh how I’d love the see the ROI.

Zac, I’m with you on this one
It’s long, weired and hard to explain. Microsoft needs a kick in the butt ,not a wiggle. I still think the campaign will take some turns and surprise but it’s more about Microsoft actually coming up with the goods: Great products marketed well.

Being a Seinfeld fan, I enjoyed watching the ad, though it seems to be doing more for Seinfeld rather than Microsoft.
Still, they should benefit more than Vandelay Industries ever did

i know it’s the first in a series but it’s a bit… err… craptacular. the whole thing reeks of a quasi Family Guy style leftfield approach without the irreverance that is the key component in actually soliciting some laughs.
if this was a cheap to produce video that went viral, credit would be due. next!
