Google’s next step in taking over our lives!

Google’s phone, the Andriod, is current in the hands of testers. It will be based on an open platform model with open source and open network. Anyone can develop their own application and used across any network which will be a distinct advantage other phones. With Apple’s iPhone restriction to a single telco network, will the iPhone’s sexier looks outsell Google’s functionality features? Personally I think it looks like an ugly calculator.
Also, Google’s are showing early signs of starting their own telco network in the US.

Well.. as an Industrial Designer I was some what looking forward to this wee gadget when I first heard rumors of its existence. But really? Google, lets be honest, we all know you have a strong history of making things that work well and thats great, and you do it better than anyone. But this phone needs work!
Your early steps into three dimensional design look unsteady.
The design principle of MAYA springs to mind. “Most Advanced Yet Acceptable.” I have no doubt that it will be highly advanced as far as the tech side goes but the key part in MAYA is the ‘Y.’
Most advanced? Probably
Acceptable? No
Lets take R2D2 back to the opperating room for a face lift.
