Facebook have made it easy to follow the trends by putting together a monthly post called Hot Topics!
Mother’s Day caused the most conversations on Facebook this May, as many people shared their love through Facebook and Instagram posts.
Instagram Hot Topics:
Facebook and Instagram is a great way to keep up celebrity news and gossip, which was evident this May as the younger generation flocked to these platforms to follow the 2016 Met Gall awards. In Australia, the TV Week Logie Awards captured user’s attention, with Australia star Delta Goodrem becoming the highest-trending attendee on Instagram.
Facebook has become a leading tool in political discussions this month with the up and coming national electrons, especially for the older generations. Older men and woman used Facebook to show their support for the Australian dairy industry around the price of supermarkets branded milk.
Facebook Hot Topics:
The State of Origin clash between Queensland and New South Wales made Australians turn to Facebook, whereas Formula One driver Daniel Riccardo gathered some great home crowd support on Instagram in the lead to his race at the Grand Prix.
Clearly both Instagram and Facebook are used for different purposes and by demographics. Younger audiences tend to focus more on fashion and celebrity news, whereas more mature users are passionate about sport and politics.
May’s Hot Topics highlight the opportunity that brands have to connect with their audiences by joining in on these conversions.
