So, what does this all mean?

  • Facebook has had a big jump this month. I think this is either Facebook tweaking their ads tool, or a large number of new users signing up. This could be the yearly growth spurt you see from new users 13 years of age signing up – not in one month, but Facebook refreshing their reporting tools to possible include signups over seveal months.
  • There has been a slight dip in users this month for Tumblr – This decline is not related to Yahoo’s acquisition of Tumblr.
  • The main blog networks and LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube dominate the other top social networks accessed.
  • Smaller second tier social networks have trouble maintaining regular monthly users over a longer period of time.
