So much good news in social media tools this week! First Instagram rolls out web profiles, and now Pinterest is letting users create ‘secret boards’ that can only be seen by invitation.
Pinterest is now testing the new feature that lets users create as many as three secret boards. Anything pinned to secret boards doesn’t show up anywhere else on Pinterest and only people invited by creators can add to t he board.
This function is definitely going to be very useful for brands planning campaigns on Pinterest, or for using Pinterest as an online collaboration tool. I can see it also helping boost user growth as people may pin more things to secret boards as a private bookmarking tool – after all sometimes you find lots of awesome stuff you want to pin but you don’t want to spam your followers’ feeds. Definitely a plus.
FYI, Pinterest in Australia is gaining enormous traction with 650,000 users in October 2012 (up 10,000 from September).
